Probably the most recognisable of the Billy Ray Cyrus recordings.

Originally written in 1990 by Don Von Tress and called "Don't Tell My Heart" for The Marcy Brothers recording in 1991, Billy Ray Cyrus debuted with the song in 1992 - topping the Hot Country Songs chart and achieving multiple #1 positions across the globe.

It is regarded by many as the pioneering song that created the Country Pop genre and boosted the (then) flagging Country music scene.

It was one of the first non 'Swing' songs that I added to my repertoire around 2012

Achy Breaky Heart

Song by Billy Ray Cyrus
Achy Breaky Heart Song Lyrics
Well you can tell the world, you never was my girl,
You can burn my clothes up when I'm gone.
And you can tell your friends, just what a fool I've been,
And Laugh and joke about me on the phone.

Yeah, you can tell these arms, to get back on the farm,
You can tell my feet to hit the road.
And you can tell my lips, to tell my fingertips,
They won't be reaching out for you no more.

But don't tell my heart, my achy breaky heart,
I just don't think he'd understand.
And if you tell my heart, my achy breaky heart,
It might blow up and kill this man.

Well you can tell your ma, I moved to Arkansas
You can tell your dog to bit my leg
or tel your brother Cliff, whose fist can tell my lips
Cos he never really liked me anyway

You can tell your aunt Louise, tell anything you please,
Myself already knows I'm not OK
Or you can tell my eyes, to watch out for my mind,
Cos it might be walking out on me today

But don't tell my heart, my achy breaky heart,
I just don't think he'd understand.
And if you tell my heart, my achy breaky heart,
It might blow up and kill this man.

(Instrumental interlude)

But don't tell my heart, my achy breaky heart,
I just don't think he'd understand.
And if you tell my heart, my achy breaky heart,
It might blow up and kill this man.

Don't tell my heart, my achy breaky heart,
I just don't think he'd understand.
And if you tell my heart, my achy breaky heart,
It might blow up and kill this man.

Oh don't tell my heart, my achy breaky heart,
I just don't think he'd understand.
And if you tell my heart, my achy breaky heart,
It might blow up and kill this man.
